week 25 // you are my wild
This week's wild photo shoot was my biggest challenge thus far. No one was in the mood to be in front of the camera.
Friday afternoon, Neve broke her arm rollerskating. It was a doozie, but thankfully repairable with nothing more than a heavy pink cast and time.
She's been through a roller coaster of emotions in 72 hours.
1. Pain and fear.
2. Relief and sleep.
3. Euphoria (very high dose of pain meds. Refer to the above love letter she wrote us when she was high. Normally I wouldn't doubt the extent of my child's gratitude, but she wrote this within minutes of saying something about catching a "butterflog, I mean butterfly" and then singing She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain in an Indian accent.)
4. Reality ("I can't swim?!" and "This is sooo heavy!" and "I'm getting my cast off the week before school starts?! What?! How are my friends going to see my cast!? This does me no good!")
While her sister has maintained a pretty basic emotional recipe in that time.
1. 1 part slight concern to 2 parts cast-envy.
Fiona, overheard from the living room, "Neve, hit me really hard with your cast so I can get a cast too."

love the grumpy faces, real women, these two, like their mama.

I'm too sure Ayu would follow Fiona if I show this photo to her, and would ask hoshiho to draw the same cute broken p.., oops, bone, on the cast ;D!
Lovely daughters, beautiful photos and a story that's not so pretty, hope she recovers soon.

Oh poor Neve. I kinda like her doped up self though... Get that girl a sling to hold that thing up ;) I had a bad elbow break (required surgery) when I was her age and my cast was plaster... so. heavy. And, at least she doesn't have to learn to wipe with her other arm (assuming she's right handed).
