on the car ride there, neve asks, "are you sure they aren't going to give us shots?"
i confidently reply, "no. it's just a regular old check up", and proceed to give them a list of simple things that the doctor will do, such as checking their ears, eyes, and throats, measuring their weight and height, and asking them questions about wearing helmets while riding bikes.
by the time i'm done, they're practically looking forward to the visit. salt water aquarium in the waiting room? listening to their heartbeats through the stethoscope? lollipops as parting gifts? what fun!
"girls, i could've sworn there was a salt water tank here a few years ago. here. read this magazine."
"mom. did she just tell us to take off our clothes!? we don't even know them! what do they want to look at!?"
"so girls. remember how i said there'd be no shots today? well..."
i had a feeling my pediatrician was going to report me to the vaccine authorities had i not updated them that day. poor neve received 5 shots, and fiona got 1. i was crowned big mouth mom.
but all was soon forgotten with a trip to the bookstore and a stop for frozen yogurt.

Hi! I stumbled upon your instagram and fell in love without photos. They are gorgeous. Now that I've seen your blog, I have to say it is utterly lovely. I simply have to ask about how you take/edit your photos. The tones you produce are magical.
So sorry the little ones had to have shots! This week I went to the dentist for the 1st time in 7 years and had multiple shots in my cheek! Had to grab the hand of the assistant and chalk it up to negligence...(or lack of insurance). They only did half my mouth so I've gotta go back! Maybe I need to go to the bookstore and stop for frozen yogurt.
I agree with Alexandra, I love the tone of your photos!
I received a postcard in the mail about a month ago reminding me we are behind on our shots. I think we are going no vacs. Believe me, if for whatever reason we choose to vaccinate Haven is gonna have a horrible visit.
