There's No Place Like Wherever Daddy Is.

This man.  I like him.

He has the week off from work.

He surprised his family with a beautiful Christmas tree today.  He took his girls out to dinner tonight for a Daddy-date (to let his wife decompress at home alone).  He built us a cozy fire as we decorated our tree.  He served us up some leftover pumpkin pie.  He hand-washed my favorite pair of jeans.  He gave our stinky dog a bath.  And right now, he's asleep in my lap (which is why I'm having a hard time typing...)

Don't go back to work, Terry.

i'm so jealous. luke never ever ever ever takes time off of work. i fantasize about days like you just described. i hope you have a wonderful tomorrow and wonderful weekend. i just know you will.

(luke did not go to work the day alice was born, he reminds me, but i was in the throes of labor and would have filed divorce if he had gone in. he DID go to work the day after he had his appendix out.)

in a short 12 hour drive your husband could be resting his head in my husbands lap. I can't believe he had a week off and you didn't drive up to see me, you could have seen Erin too, her house is on the way.

I like Janet's idea!

it was nice. but oh so brief. erin, trust me, it's rare. and janet, i can't believe i'm saying this now, but I HAD TO WORK last week. weird. terry's head probably would have rather been in john's lap as well.

This is what Christmas is all about. This is what memories are made of! A loving family comes right after "Jesus is the reason for the season".

I was just thinking the same exact thing about my husband! He's been off the whole week...and me + the girls are just soaking up every minute of it. We're probably all going to stand at the door with puppy-dog faces next Tuesday and say, "We don't want you to go back to work!" ;)
